It’s a month again! Which means it’s a monthly update! This one feels like it’s coming a little late. Especially given I already dropped the first Early Access feature of the month. But, really, it’s only a day later than last months came out. And there was a holiday weekend. And also I broke my entire website. So, you know, delays. But I’ll get to that s$&%.

What’s coming in July? When’s it coming? And when can supporters expect the next Discord Mostly Monthly Live Chat? Here’s a handy dandy schedule:
Last month, I promised I’d do a weekly column on Tuesdays. Specifically, I’d alternate between a Stuff I Don’t Hate column and an Ask Angry column. That’s still on the table, but I’ve had to put that plan on hold for a couple of weeks. Expect them to start trickling out toward the end of July and then show up with more regularity as time marches on.
I announced last month that loyal readers could support the site at the SubscribeStar crowdfunding platform as an alternative to Patreon. I will continue to accept support from both platforms and appreciate those of you who have changed over from Patreon to SubscribeStar. I can also accept one-time pledges of support through PayPal and secure credit and debit card transactions.
I know times are hard for everyone. And I appreciate every dollar ever one of my supporters send my way. Because times are hard, your support is more necessary than ever. It’s what allows me to keep putting this content out. And to keep finding new ways to deliver more content. Without it, I literally could not maintain this site and put out everything I do. I certainly couldn’t even considering publishing products, even with Kickstarter. If you are supporting me, thank you. If you aren’t, but you’ve been thinking about — or you think my work is worth supporting — now would be a great time to start.

With all of that said, I know times are hard for everyone right now. And luxuries — like Internet assholes who write about pretend-elf games — are the first necessary cut when you start to feel the pinch. If any of you are running into financial hard times and need to make cuts, please cut your support. Don’t give it a second thought. Don’t feel guilty. And don’t feel you owe me any explanation. You don’t. Whatever support you have been provided is appreciated. But you have to take care of yourself and your family first. I understand completely and won’t hold anything against you.
When things do get better, though, just remember your old pal Angry is still here. Hopefully.
Now, enough of that crap…
Last month, I announced — in some circles — that I was talking with a publisher about publishing a new edition of my book, Game Angry: How to RPG the Angry Way with revised content, more chapters, and s$&% like that. Unfortunately, I was a little premature. The publisher and I reached an impasse during contract negotiations and won’t be working together on this project.
However, the possibility of a republication isn’t dead. Neither is a sequel. One that focuses on writing adventures and building and running campaigns. In fact, I figured out a neat way to bundle the two of them together in one project. Now, that’s a ways off. Coming in spring of 2023 most likely. Just know that Game Angrier is coming. Along with a shiny new and improved version of Game Angry.
Diversifying my crowdfunding portfolio required me to change how I upload and distribute my content. I think I talked about that s$&% last month. If so, you can read more about it there. If not, forget it. It’s boring anyway. Point is, I’ve been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes shuffling on this site. And while I was doing that, I also took time to add and tweak some features people have been asking for.
First, there is now a complete and chronological listing of all the columns and features — but not news and announcements — I’ve published on this site. Check out the Archive of Columns and Features.
Second, I’ve repaired the Subscribe to the Site via E-mail feature. There’s now a invitation at the end of every article and in the comment section to get e-mail notifications of new posts. Eventually, I will have a sidebar option.
Unfortunately, there have been a few unexpected problems that have cropped up in this process. A few site features have been temporarily disabled for troubleshooting, maintenance, and replacement. Most notably, the Search bar. These features will come back. It’s just that I have to fix this s$&% between my regular content-creation and long-term-project duties.
Site supporters get access to bonus audio content, including recordings of monthly live chats and absolutely, hilariously terrible readalouds of my articles as part of my proofing process. When I spread myself across two different funding platforms, I completely f$&%ed up the workflow and distribution of those audio files that had been working for years and I had to find a new solution.
Supporters will still get links to audio files as they’re posted, but they’ll also get a special link to a podcast feed that’ll work in most podcast apps and RSS readers. The latest Proofreadalouds and Live Chats are already available and you should already have the details you need to access them. I will gradually be moving all of the previous content from this year into those feeds, but it’s going to take a couple of weeks. So please be patient. Again, I’ve got a lot of things to tweak at once and I’m trying to do so without slowing down my content creation.
Finally, just a quick note for those supporters who were invited to the Angry Games NonConvention. That being an informal gathering of supporters to play games and have fun in Ohio this October. NonConvention planning continues with the diligent help of supporter DebitVictory who is acting as my left-hand man on this. I say that because, if he were my right-hand man, he’d be CreditVictory. Anyway, he and I have a number of quotes and proposals from venues we’re reviewing literally today. So we are very close to having some firm and reasonably final news.
